I'm under the assumption that the Cartech does really nothing until it gets into boost, at which point it adjusts your fuel curve, and at normal throttle, your car runs off of the factory regulator. So if your car runs like crap at normal throttle, I'd think that it was more to do with the stock system that cycles your injectors, i.e. factory FPR, O2 sensor, etc. Also, at full throttle I thought the JR relay forces the car to run rich, if the car runs good under full throttle and rich, and this is the only time when the cartech FPR should be operating, I would think that that would automatically take it out of the equation under part throttle. Now I could be wrong, so don't take my word for it, maybe someone with knowledge will chime in.
JRCivic maybe. After all, I think I've asked him every question about the cartech I could think of.

I totally agree with this. My car did not start doing this until my OEM FPR was swapped for the larger Prelude unit and B&M adjustable fpr. My car doesn't do this all the time though. sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
My mods related to this are: GS342 high flow pump, stock fuel rail, Prelude OEM FPR and B&M adjustable FPR, Cartech FPR (boost dependent) and Ford 30lb injectors (around 310cc), Apex AFC and JR BTC.

Zach,
Does your car bog after an extended idle of light throttle on and off again kind of driving? Have you checked your plugs or o2 sensor? Maybe (Now I going back real far to the carb days!) the car is lightly fouling the plugs, and it sputters and bogs until it clears itself up. I know my old carb cars used to do that on those days where it seemed like you'd idle for hours, or could only get up to 10 mph or so, but after a good WOT run, it would run like a champ.
Just an idea.

Also, to the other posting up here, I'm not sure what it is, but there seems to be a point in between boost and non-boost at part throttle where the vacuum is enough to force the bypass valve to shut, and enrichen the mixture, but if you let off the gas a little, the boost goes away, as does the fuel pressure, it also feels like the car is acting up, and might be interpreted as a bog or lack of power. Is this what you are talking about? I'm sure some tuning can eliminate some of it, but with mechanical devices running a sophisticated powertrain system, you could be running into the shortcomings of the design. I don't know how old some of you are, but older cars with vacuum secodary carbs, and mechanical dist advance, are not nearly as seamless as today's computerized cars. I'm not trying to sound like I'm talking down to any of you, I am just trying to isolate if it is a real problem or a percieved problem, because you are used to the smoothness of the newer automobiles. Also, I am not discounting your experiences, as I am sure you've encountered them. I'm just trying to find some common thread through all of this to try to help you find some answers.
Good luck, and let us know your progress.

I don't think you're talking down to us at all. I welcome the experience actually. I have looked at my plugs and they are fine. I have to think the problem is the new components and they just need to be tuned. The car was tuned for the older components and ran well, but now it needs to be tuned for the newer pieces.

I've just noticed that the bog happens when I'm at a certain rpm. When I'm at 50-70 mph it'll bog. At 50 it bogs for a longer period of time than when I'm at 70. When I get up to 80 mph, it won't bog at all. Can any body explain this? Is the cartech even in use when I'm off boost? I have a weapon r adjustable fuel pressure regulator in place of the oem rail regulator, but the bogging started happening before the weapon r was installed.

Do you have any gauges, or do you hear any noises that you could tell us about? Does it feel like it's missing or lack of power, do you have a vacuum leak? Does it do it at part throttle, then when you punch it does it go away, or is it always at part throttle? Do you know what you Fuel pressure is? There are many variables, can you provide more info?
Also, I don't think the Cartech has much of an effect at part throttle. I'd prob check your factory FPR and see if the vacuum line is off or loose, do you have another one to try out? Aparently, from what you are saying it goes lean, something is not enrichening it enough to raise the fuel pressure until boost, at which time the Cartech takes over and then it seems to run fine. That's why I'm trying to figure out, have you over leaned out you base pressure with the Cartech? I'm at a loss right now.
How many miles are on your car?
Have you changed your fuel filter?
Have you a FP gauge to see if your pump is acting up?

My car has 4900 miles on it
Idle fuel pressure is at 45
Even before the adjustable FPR install it would bog. my idle pressure before the adjustable FPR was at 52
It bogs for a few seconds, then power, then back to bog, back and forth, back and forth.
it happens the most at about 15% throttle (between 50-70mph), but when I bring it up to 80 mph it runs fine. So, it MUST be something that happens at a certain fuel level. Anybody have any idea?

Does it bog with the fluctuations in your A/F gauge?
You said your secondary O2 sensor was broke in a previous post. I think that this could be the problem.
Have you checked to see if it is broken or the wires loose? I think I'd check there.
My fuel pressure with stock regulator is 42 psi. I don't have this bog problem, nor do I seem to have any fluctuations like you are referring to.
You might want to post a different thread to the ATTN of JRCIVIC, he has a LOT more experience than I do, and just refer him here or just repost this information.
I'd still check out the O2 sensor first.
Good luck,
Mike

I believe that you are looking at the wrong product to find your problem... if the car only exibits this problem/symptom at cruise speeds and/or mild throttle input, then the Cartech would most likely NOT be even beginning to ramp fuel up at that point. I would be looking for a short or break in a wire somewhere... check the O2 sensors first, then the IAT wiring. Also, if you have ANY electronic gizmo's inside the cabin of the car (Fields VTEC controller, Apex V-AFC, etc.)... check EVERY SINGLE WIRE FOR GOOD CONTINUITY AND CONDUCTION.
I believe that you will find your troubles there.
Good luck.
